A chandelier is more than just a light fixture—it’s a statement piece that can transform any room. Whether you hang one in your entryway, dining room, or even an unexpected spot like a bathroom, a chandelier brings personality and charm to your space.

These elegant fixtures have a rich history, with some tracing their origins to ancient Egypt and others pointing to medieval Europe. Regardless of where they began, chandeliers carry a sense of grandeur, evoking a touch of castles and fairy tales wherever they’re placed. They’re not just about beauty; they’re also functional, serving as a key element of ambient lighting, which provides overall illumination and sets the tone for a room’s comfort and usability.

Choosing the right chandelier for your home involves more than just picking a design you love. There are various types of chandeliers, each with its own unique style and purpose, from timeless colonial designs to modern options.

In this blog, we’ll highlight the most popular types of chandeliers, offer tips to help you find the perfect fit for your space, and share some of our favorite recent projects. Let’s explore how chandeliers can elevate your home and create the perfect atmosphere!

1. Brass and Frosted Glass Chandeliers

Brass chandeliers with frosted glass shades are a great option for dining rooms, offering a mix of style and practicality. The brass finish adds a touch of charm, while the frosted glass shades create a soft, pleasant light, making the space feel warm and inviting. They work well for both formal dinners and casual get-togethers, and their durable materials mean they’ll last for years to come.

To choose the right size chandelier for your dining room, start by measuring the width of your dining table. The chandelier’s diameter should be about half to two-thirds of this width to create a balanced look.

When hanging the chandelier, position the bottom so it’s 30-36 inches above the surface of the table. This height provides enough clearance while maintaining a visually appealing balance in the space.

2. Modern 6-Arm Brass Chandeliers

Dress any space with this modern 6-arm brass chandelier. Featuring a classic empire silhouette, it combines bold illumination with striking design elements to create a true statement piece. Crafted from durable metal, its warm, robust finish is balanced by gracefully curved arms and candle-style lights that add a finishing touch to the space.

4. Drum Chandeliers

Laundry rooms often get overlooked when it comes to lighting and design, even though homeowners spend a significant amount of time there. Thoughtful lighting can make a big difference, especially in spaces that are sometimes combined with mudrooms, pet areas, or even home offices. Adding the right fixture is an easy way to give your laundry room both character and functionality.

While natural light is always ideal, it’s not always an option. That’s where well-chosen electric fixtures come in. For laundry rooms, drum-style semi-flush mount lights are a fantastic choice. They provide plenty of light while staying compact, making them perfect for spaces with limited ceiling height or cabinet doors that need to open freely.

These chandeliers are particularly well-suited for long and narrow spaces such as corridors, kitchens, and baths. Their linear shape helps to visually elongate these areas and create a sense of balance within the space.
