Our Estimator at Meg & Co, Elizabeth Enjoys Camping & Sports

Elizabeth Karel brings energy, curiosity, and a love of learning to her role as an estimator at Meg & Co. Originally from Florida, she now calls Idaho home, where she and her husband make the most of the great outdoors. When they’re not camping or traveling, Elizabeth enjoys starting her weekends with a spin class followed by a smoothie or acai bowl. At home, their three dogs happily join in as adventure buddies.

Outside of work, Elizabeth stays active with hobbies like tennis, hiking, skiing, and recreational sports. She also explores her creative side by playing the drums in her free time. Her adventurous spirit is balanced with a strong commitment to professional growth. The best advice she’s carried into her career is to always be true to yourself and never stop learning—because in her words, “there’s no such thing as being too prepared.”

Elizabeth Loves Thai Food

Beyond her role at Meg & Co, Elizabeth embraces favorite comforts and aspirations that shape her daily life. Thai food remains her top choice when she craves a comfort meal. As an early bird, she enjoys starting her mornings with focus and energy. If she could share a meal with anyone in history, she would choose architect Frank Lloyd Wright, whose visionary work inspires her.

Elizabeth always looks for growth opportunities and plans to continuously expand her education.
She graduated from the College of Southern Idaho with a bachelor’s degree in Operations Management.
Currently, she is pursuing her MBA at Boise State University.

Elizabeth’s Professional Journey

Elizabeth’s career journey has been shaped by hard work, curiosity, and a genuine passion for learning. Her very first job was at Home Depot, where she wore many hats. From working in lumber to helping customers at the Pro Desk, she learned adaptability across different roles. It was there that she gained a foundation in customer service and problem-solving. Those skills have continued to support her throughout her career.

Over time, Elizabeth’s path led her into commercial estimating, where she worked on several large projects across Idaho and nearby regions. She found it rewarding to witness the community’s growth firsthand and to play a role in projects that shaped the places where people live, work, and gather.

Her connection with Meg & Co began years ago through industry events, where she first met Meghan. Their paths crossed again—unexpectedly—in a store in Sun Valley, sparking a reconnection that eventually led Elizabeth to join the team in February. Since then, she has embraced the supportive, collaborative atmosphere at Meg & Co, where every project is approached with a shared sense of purpose.

Elizabeth loves that Meg & Co is not only dedicated to quality and teamwork but also deeply involved in the community. Through Meg & Co, she’s had the opportunity to serve on boards and contribute to organizations such as Professional Women in Building, the Children’s Museum of the Magic Valley, and the Magic Valley Safety Fest. These experiences allow her to give back to the community she calls home while growing professionally alongside a team that shares her values.

Our Estimator at Meg & Co, Elizabeth Has a Great Philosophy: People First

Throughout her career, Elizabeth has learned that relationships form the foundation of the construction industry. She believes skill alone cannot replace the value of trust and strong connections with owners, trades, and partners.

Moreover, her dedication to following estimators and project managers nationwide keeps her informed on industry trends. As a result, this perspective gives her a sharp edge and strengthens her approach to every project. Finally, by tracking market conditions and pricing shifts, she ensures her work stays accurate, competitive, and forward-thinking.

Elizabeth credits her parents as her greatest inspiration, teaching her the value of hard work and perseverance early on. Even now, their influence continues to shape her professional journey and guide how she supports her team and community.

We’re grateful to have Elizabeth as part of the Meg & Co family. Her expertise, positive energy, and commitment to growth make her not only an incredible estimator but also a valued teammate who embodies the spirit of our company.
